Holistic Renton Recovery Center
Anne Artman, the founder of Tacoma Recovery Center, knew something needed to be done about the rising cases of substance abuse in Pierce County. Anne began taking peer recovery coach training after recognizing the lack of support for drug rehabilitation. After Anne realized she had a passion for helping others, she was able to obtain a federally-funded recovery grant from the Department of Behavioral Health and Recovery. Anne then began to develop a safe space for people dealing with addiction, homelessness, PTSD, and other mental health issues, and thus the Tacoma Rehabilitation Center was born. Since the opening of the Renton recovery center, we have found that the most promising opioid recovery successes focused on a foundation of compassion, shared experiences, confidence, and community support.

Drug recovery is a very stressful experience that can trigger feelings of irritability and resentment. The members of our anger management group express their feelings to deal with those emotions and are ultimately able to help recognize the causes of each trigger. Doing this helps members develop stronger methods of dealing with their anger.
