Taking a New Approach to Recovery

Our Mission

At the Tacoma Recovery Center, our mission is to build a compassionate, empowering, and culturally responsive community where every individual has the opportunity to heal, grow, and reclaim their life. We serve individuals whose journeys have been shaped by substance use, addiction, homelessness, trauma, grief, PTSD, and other mental and behavioral health challenges.
Grounded in respect and dignity, we walk alongside each person with the belief that lived experience is a powerful source of strength. Through a blend of professional clinical services, peer-led support, and holistic care, we create a safe environment where members can find hope, restore their identity, and access meaningful resources.
We are committed to meeting each person exactly where they are—providing recovery-focused groups, mental health support, crisis-sensitive guidance, skill-building opportunities, and pathways to stability. Our peer specialists and licensed professionals work together to ensure that every member receives support that is ethical, trauma-informed, and reflective of their unique needs and lived experience.

Our Programs

Our programs extend across lifespans and communities:

Veterans Services that honor and support veterans navigating PTSD, depression, anxiety, and the challenges of reintegration by connecting them to essential programs in Pierce County and beyond.

Women’s Programs, including DV survivor support, Sexual Assault Support, S.O.S., which provide mentoring, empowerment, and positive peer community for girls and young women affected by crime, trauma, or instability.

Parental Support that strengthens families, supports healthy boundaries, and nurtures resilience in caregivers.

The Tacoma Recovery Center and the Multicultural Child and Family Hope Center (MCFHC) proudly offer S.O.S. (Sisterhood of Strength), a program designed for young girls and women who have witnessed or experienced a crime.

Mental Health and Recovery Services that combine clinical oversight with authentic peer connection to address depression, anxiety, trauma, and life transitions.

Anger Management and Court-Ordered Programs that provide structured interventions, emotional awareness, and tools for long-term change.

Grief & Loss Support that offers space for individuals processing loss in all its forms—death, relationships, stability, family separation, and life disruptions.

PTSD Support Groups that provide trauma-informed guidance and safe connection for individuals healing from complex experiences.

Across all programs, confidentiality, safety, and professionalism guide our work. Staff are mandated reporters and uphold strict ethical standards to ensure that members are protected, respected, and supported at every step. Peer Support Specialists offer encouragement and shared wisdom within their scope of practice, with supervision and structure that ensure safe and meaningful care.

Above all, Tacoma Recovery Center is a place of belonging.

A place where voices are heard.

A place where healing is possible.

A place where every person is reminded that their story is not over, and their future is worth fighting for.
