Parental Support
At the Tacoma Recovery Center, we offer a variety of support options for parents. Our Parental Support Group focuses on nurturing healthy relationships and establishing effective boundaries between parents and their children. We emphasize the importance of self-care and explain what it truly involves.
We also provide the Fatherhood Engagement program. Many fathers struggle to find the support and guidance necessary to effectively navigate Child Protective Services. This program connects fathers who are currently involved with CPS and seeking custody with those who have successfully gone through the system, allowing them to share valuable advice and resources. Fatherhood Engagement creates a welcoming and supportive atmosphere for fathers dealing with a system that can often feel unwelcoming.
Additionally, our Parents for Parents program pairs experienced parent allies who have navigated Family Court with parents who are newly involved with CPS. This program helps parents face the challenges of the intimidating system. Leah Legee oversees this program as well as supervising the program for Pierce, Kitsap, and Clallam counties.
Lastly, we offer a Kinship Care Support Group. This group is dedicated to supporting individuals who are raising children due to unforeseen circumstances. Kinship care involves members of a child's immediate family stepping in to provide care, which helps maintain family, cultural, and community ties, ultimately reducing trauma and promoting stability for the child. However, this transition can be challenging, and the Kinship Care Support Group is here to provide assistance.
